PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Pawtucket police are investigating allegations that a former employee of the Pawtucket Armory Arts Center embezzled tens of thousands of dollars.

Brian Thibeault, a Manchester, New Hampshire-based developer who owns the armory, tells Eyewitness News he filed a report with police on October 11, 2016, less than a week after the woman was fired.

Thibeault said after more than two years of employment as the event coordinator, it came to his attention that the worker had been booking events at the arts center and never recorded them on the official event calendar.

This allowed the worker to keep the profits from these weddings and small parties, according to Thibeault.

He said he believes she may also have collected payment for events in 2017 and 2018, keeping the money of unsuspecting customers.

At this point, the impact isn’t fully known because those events would not have been recorded but the owner could have been out of $40,000-50,000.

Thibeault said police are actively investigating, but no charges have been brought at this time.
