Rainy day leads to slow commute

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Messy weather slowed down the evening commute for local Rhode Islanders.

The rain caused a few minor accidents but mainly just slowed traffic down further during rush hour.

As Eyewitness News checked out the road conditions on Thursday night, a storm drain on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence was blocked by leaves causing water to pool around it.

The Department of Public Works stated as a reminder that around this time of year, it is important to clear leaves from storm drains to keep these problems to a minimum.

Rain is set to continue throughout the night and into the early morning commute.
