NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) – Two Rhode Island men have been arrested and accused of trafficking fentanyl – the third such bust in New Bedford this week.

According to police, 21 year-old Francisco Ruiz-Franco of Providence and 25 year-old Gabri Javier Delpaz of Central Falls were arrested Friday at noon on Kempton Street.

Police said the arrests were part of an investigation into a fentanyl distribution service.

The two men were allegedly carrying 41 bags of fentanyl and there was other drug paraphernalia in their car.

They were charged with trafficking in fentanyl over 36 grams and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

It’s the third fentanyl bust this week in the city; on Tuesday police arrested 21 year-old Christian Castellano of Providence near the intersection of Allen Street and Rockdale Avenue and seized 66 grams of fentanyl.

Thursday, police arrested 29 year-old Juan Velez of Roxbury and seized 120 grams of fentanyl.

There’s no word yet on whether or not the men arrested were connected.

Police said they are planning a news conference for the near future.
