Pawtucket Halloween shooting

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – A man has died after he was shot in a Pawtucket neighborhood Monday afternoon, city police confirm.

According to Pawtucket Police, the 29-year old was shot on Harrison Street at about 4 p.m. Monday.

The victim was found in the area of Cedar and Garden Streets and taken by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital, where police said he later died from his injuries.

“I didn’t see a gun or anything, but he was running pretty fast, he took out of here pretty fast.” said Melissa Payne, who lives nearby and watched the situation unfold.

“I’ve never experienced anyone being shot before,” she continued. “So it’s been kind of a scary day for me, especially it being on Halloween.”

Neighbors stood by watching as police officers canvassed the area for evidence and information. One resident said she doesn’t consider the area a safe neighborhood.

“It comes and goes,” said Carrie LeClair. “There’s always been gangs and there’s been shootings in the past.”

Police said no arrests have been made so far. The incident remains under investigation.
