PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — The office of Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin is collecting winter coats in conjunction with the Neighborhood Alliance of Pawtucket to benefit needy residents and families.

Kilmartin’s office at 150 South Main Street in Providence will accept donations of new or gently worn winter coats, scarves, hats and gloves for children or adults now through Monday, November 21. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The need is still there, though winter doesn’t officially start until December 21, and temperatures have been fairly mild so far, Kilmartin said Tuesday. “The simple act of donating… helps keep our neighbors warm during the winter months.

“Thanks to the generosity of the staff and the public over the past few years, we have been able to provide hundreds of people with proper winter apparel.”
