NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — The Department of Transportation held a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday morning for the newly-renovated Clarence L. Hussey Memorial Bridge in Wickford Village.
The bridge re-opened to traffic last week, after the DOT closed it in September for the second phase of the renovation project. The first phase ran from April to June. T
he bridge, which carries Route 1A over Wickford Cove, was open in July and August to accommodate summer traffic.
DOT Director Peter Alviti Jr. said the renovation project was completed eight months ahead of schedule.
