This week’s Cardi’s Hometown Sports Hero is Portsmouth’s Mary Kate McGuire.
The junior scored 26 goals with 8 assists in 8 games, helping the Patriots to a 12-2-2 regular season and the 4th seed in the Division I playoffs.
The two-time reigning Gatorade Player of the Year, McGuire now has 76 goals and 24 assists in her high school career, split between Portsmouth and St. George’s School.
The striker committed to Duke University after her freshman year and is hoping to lead the Patriots to their second state title in three years.
