ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Police are investigating after a teenager was stabbed during an attempted drug deal in Attleboro.
The 17-year-old was stabbed just before 8 p.m. Monday in the area of North Avenue and Hood Street. According to police, the victim was picked up by the suspect – whom he intended to buy marijuana from – and brought to that neighborhood.
The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
Police said the suspect made off with the victim’s cell phone and about $2,000 cash.
Attleboro Police Chief Kyle Heagney assured residents it was not a random act of violence and said the suspect and victim do not live in the area it occurred.
Police said they’re looking for a white, four-door car believed to be connected to the stabbing.
The chief said the investigation is active and numerous leads are being followed.
