ACUSHNET, Mass. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway into the death of a young girl in Acushnet though officials said they do not suspect there was any foul play.

According to police, the 3-year-old was killed Tuesday when the SUV her father was repairing rolled onto her.

The Bristol County Attorney General’s office identified the girl Wednesday as Victoria Varieur.

The AG’s office said the preliminary investigation indicates the girl’s father was working on his Ford Excursion at their Jean Street home when the vehicle rolled down the driveway and struck the child.

The SUV then continued down the driveway and hit another vehicle parked across the street, according to officials.

Varieur was pronounced dead at the scene and her father was transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital.

Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the AG’s office are investigating alongside members of the Acushnet Police Department.
