CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Cranston police arrested two men on Thursday, following a police pursuit that spanned across multiple communities.

Authorities say that the men attempted to get away, after neighbors on Tweed Street reported catching them in the act of breaking into a home.

An eyewitness reports seeing a man crouched down near the basement window, wearing all black winter clothing in the middle of the warm afternoon.

Another neighbor also saw the two men and called police.

The suspects led police on a fast-paced chase to Johnston.

“They were able to stop the SUV on Plainfield Street and take both suspects out of the vehicle. One of them did struggle with one of our officers and they were both taken into custody at that point.” – Lt. Michael Pezzullo, Cranston Police

Police arrested 33-year-old Romer Pena-Perz and 27-year-old Orlando Pena-Baez, both of Providence.

The two men face several charges.

Fortunately, no officers were hurt during the pursuit.
