Court rules against East Providence Police Department concealed carry case

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The East Providence Police Department is once again accused of improperly denying residents permits to carry concealed weapons.

A Rhode Island Supreme Court ruling, that was issued last week, says Chief Christopher Parella incorrectly applied the law when rejecting 3 permit applications.

The justices also found that police failed to comply with a 2015 ruling against the City.

That ruling ordered the chief to include his reasoning with any concealed permit denial.
