PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence firefighter pleaded not guilty to drug charges before a judge on Friday.

Ricardo Garcia, 47, was arrested during a traffic stop in East Providence back in August.

Officers discovered a quarter-kilogram of cocaine inside Garcia’s car, according to the police report obtained by Eyewitness News.

Police said the drugs have an estimated street value of $4,000.

The 15-year veteran was suspended indefinitely without pay.

Garcia was arraigned Friday on charges of possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to deliver. His bail was set at $30,000 with surety.
