BILLERICA, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts police are searching for two men who were in a van with Rhode Island plates that struck and dragged an officer investigating suspected drug use.

The Billerica officer was struck and dragged about 15 feet Friday evening in the parking lot of a pharmacy. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they are seeking the driver, 28-year-old Eric Oblenis of Billerica, and an unidentified man who was a passenger in the van.

Authorities allege Oblenis was in the van injecting suspected drugs into his arm when he saw the officer approaching and accelerated in reverse. The officer was struck and dragged by his arm before falling, and the van sped away.

Officials are searching for a green 1999 Dodge Ram van with the Rhode Island plate IY888.
