Police investigate head-on collision in Woonsocket

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — The scene of a head-on collision on Manville Road in Woonsocket is on a stretch of road that is no stranger to car crashes.

A car crash that damaged two cars on Monday evening is under investigation.

Police state that three people were injured, one seriously. Two were transported to Rhode Island hospital. One was transported to Landmark Medical Center.

“Here is it again, another accident on Manville Road,” said Rex Burton who lives a few blocks away from where the accident happened. He said car crashes here are common.

According to Buxton, a lot of drivers speed down the road, which is marked as a 35 miles-per-hour zone and has blind spots.

In the past 15 years alone, Buxton said he has lost seven cars on Manville due to car crashes.

“Something’s gotta happen. Let’s slow it down before this takes lives again,” said Buxton.

Police are still investigating Monday’s crash.
