NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Charlie Lombardi has won the election for mayor of North Providence, Eyewitness News projects.
Lombardi defeated independent Brian Quirk.
Lombardi has been mayor since a special election in 2007, when he succeeded fellow Democrat Ralph Mollis, who’d left the mayor’s office after being elected secretary of state. Lombardi ran unopposed in 2008 and 2012, and defeated fellow Democrat Kristen Catanzaro in the September primary after a hard-fought race.
Lombardi’s new term will last through the end of 2020.
