PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – Democrat Donald Grebien has been re-elected as mayor of Pawtucket, Eyewitness News projects.

Grebien defeated John Arcaro.

A former Pawtucket councilman, Grebien was elected mayor in 2010. He is widely credited with balancing the city’s budget and improving its bond rating. Grebien also serves as the president of the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns.

Arcaro, an account executive with R&R Publishing Inc., caught the attention of residents this year by running under the “Sick of Scandals” label. He was previously a Democrat.

Grebien will be sworn in in January.
