(WPRI) — While making a campaign stop Monday in Manchester, New Hampshire, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told the crowd New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady called him earlier in the day, saying he was supporting him in the race for President.

Brady’s wife, Gisele Bundchen, was inundated with criticism and comments on her Instagram page. One person commented and asked if they both supported Trump and Bundchen responded, “No!”

Trump also said Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick wrote a letter of support to him.

During the rally, he read from the letter he says Belichick sent him, “Congratulations on a tremendous campaign. You dealt with an unbelievable, slanted, and negative media and [you] have come out beautifully.”

A local radio station in Boston tweeted earlier this morning stating that the Patriots organization will not be commenting on Trump’s claims.

On Tuesday morning, Tom Curran of CSN New England reported Belichick “did indeed” send that letter.
