CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Crews are on the scene of a tractor trailer crash on Interstate 95 that at one time had three southbound lanes blocked.

This happened near Exit 16, right near Route 10.

According to Rhode Island State Police, the driver of the truck hit the brakes too heard and the tractor-trailer jackknifed. No other vehicles were involved and no one was hurt.

State police said nothing was in the truck’s trailer.

Eyewitness News received several ReportIt! accounts throughout the afternoon describing I-95 South as a “parking lot”

Shortly before 4 p.m., RIDOT said two of the three lanes had reopened to traffic, but long delays continued. The agency urged drivers to seek alternate routes, like Route 10 and I-295.

Around 5 p.m., just in time for the evening commute, all lanes were back open and traffic was moving again.
