Veterans Day events around Rhode Island

On November 11, we honor the men and women who have served and are currently serving our country.

There are several local events happening Friday.


State’s official Veterans Day ceremony

Governor Gina M. Raimondo will join the Bristol Veterans Council to co-host the state’s official Veterans Day ceremony at the RI Veterans Home.

Central Falls

Veterans honored in ceremony

The City of Central Falls will honor veterans on Friday beginning at 12 p.m. at Quinn Square and making four other stop along the city.

WHEN: November 11 at 12 p.m.
WHERE: Begins at Quinn Square, intersection of Hunt and Dexter Streets.
Making the following stops:
Cavanaugh Square
Monument at the Adams Library
Monument on Broad Street
Intersection of Charles and Roosevelt Avenue

North Kingstown

Parade in North Kingstown

WHEN: Parade begins at 9 a.m. and steps off at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Wilson Park following West Main and Brown streets through Wickford village to Boston Neck Road and onto Fairway Drive for concluding ceremonies at North Kingstown High School at 11 a.m.


5K at Roger Williams Park

Park View Middle School and Operation Stand Down RI will host a 5k run at Roger Williams Park on Veterans Day to benefit Operation Stand Down RI and Park View Middle School. More than 800 runners are expected to participate. The event will start off with a short opening ceremony with speeches from local veterans. Additionally, a procession of veterans will kick off the race.

Kids One Mile race begins at 8:30 a.m. The 5K begins at 9:30 a.m.

Veteran Resource Fair at the Warwick Mall 

The resource fair will include veteran service providers including Operation Stand Down’s housing and employment services, the VA flu shot clinic, VA Benefits Assistance, the Rhode Island Office of Veteran Affairs, the Rhode Island DMV, The Rhode Island Dept. of Labor and Training as well as other local non-profits. The event is open to all veterans and current military members.

Veterans Day observance

Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt in collaboration with the United Veterans Council of Woonsocket announced that a community observance in honor of Veterans Day will be held on Friday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Veterans Armed Forces Park on Davison Street.

The Veterans Day National Ceremony will also take place once again Friday morning at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
