Two arrested for shooting at teen inside car

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – Several law enforcement agencies have arrested two people in connection with a shooting on Sunday, November 13.

Pawtucket Police, U.S. Marshals and the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force took Edward Malave, 18, of Central Falls and Zasheira Mercado, 25, of Providence into custody on Tuesday.

They’re accused of shooting at a juvenile male at the intersection of Pine Street and Goff Avenue.

Police say the pair pulled up to the victim’s vehicle and fired several shots into the vehicle.

Detectives claim Mercado was driving and Malave fired the gunshots.

No one was injured in the shooting.

Both are charged with drive-by shooting, felony assault, using a firearm while committing a crime of violence and conspiracy.
