NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a wind surfer stranded off the coast of Point Judith on Wednesday.

According to Coast Guard officials, another windsurfer called the local command center at 3:20 p.m. and reported that his friend’s board failed, leaving her stranded on the rocks near the Point Judith Harbor of Refuge.

A crewman went into the water, swam to the woman, and brought her to safety on board the rescue boat.

The Coast Guard said the woman was likely hypothermic but otherwise in good condition.
