Keeping home warm this winter

As the winter chill sets in, folks are looking for ways to stay cozy and warm in their homes, especially with it finally feeling like fall!

Local Mom Blogger Audrey McClelland of Mom stopped by “The Rhode Show” on Friday morning to share some ways your family can stay warm, and maybe save some money along the way.

One of the most effective and obvious ways to stay warm this winter is to make sure your thermostat is as efficient as it can be. Smart thermostats are taking front and center as one of the easiest ways to make your home the most energy saving. The Honeywell Lyric Round Wi-Fi thermostat can be controlled from your smartphone, using the Lyric App, or can be controlled via voice control using Apple HomeKit or Amazon Alexa. It uses geofencing technology, so you when your thermostat senses you’re gone it will power down to energy savings mode and when you’re coming back, resume to your preferred settings. You can purchase on the Honeywell website, or at a hardware store like The Home Depot.

On the smart tech beat, Honeywell’s Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector alerts homeowners when they have a frozen pipe or a leak.

Through the end of the year, customers can get a free Water Leak detector with any purchase of the Lyric Round on the Honeywell website – and they both can be monitored using the Lyric app.
