LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) – Lincoln police are looking for a man they say robbed and assaulted a wheelchair-bound woman at Twin River Casino Friday morning.

Captain Philip Gould said the incident took place at about 5 a.m. as the victim was playing at a video gaming terminal.

The suspect approached and tore her wallet from her hands, shoving her to the ground in the process. Another person tried to intervene and was also assaulted. Gould said neither victim’s injuries were serious and were just cuts and bruises.

The suspect fled the casino into the woods and police officers could not find him, but after reviewing security camera footage were able to identify him as Napoleao Pires of Pawtucket. Detectives are in the process of obtaining a warrant for his arrest.

Pires, 24, is described as a black man, standing about 6-foot-1, weighing about 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Police believe he lives in the area of Main Street in Pawtucket.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the Lincoln Police Department at (401) 333-1111.
