WAREHAM, Mass. (WPRI) – Massachusetts state police arrested a man who was allegedly driving the wrong way on Route 195 in Fairhaven Saturday morning.

According to a news release, Troopers received reports at about 1:40 a.m. that a Nissan Altima was going west in the eastbound lanes. The driver refused to stop for police and kept going even after police used a “tire deflation device” near Exit 20.

After running on four flats for a short time, the driver lost control and stopped in the median near Exit 21.

Police arrested the driver, 23 year-old Jowaun Gamble of Wareham, and charged him with OUI, negligent operation, wrong way driving, failure to stop, speeding and resisting arrest. He was booked at the Dartmouth barracks and is being held for a District Court arraignment on Monday.

No other vehicles were struck during the chase.
