CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) – A Providence woman is being treated for severe injuries after her boyfriend allegedly hit her with his car in Central Falls Sunday morning.

According to Lt. John Carroll of the Central Falls Police Department, police and firefighters responded to Cowden and Fletcher Street for reports of a person hit by a car.

Police found a Nissan Maxima in that intersection and the 23 year-old woman pinned underneath it with severe injuries to her legs and midsection.

She managed to tell police that she had been arguing with her boyfriend and he had run her over with the car.

Police identified him as 25 year-old Armais Kocharov of Providence.

Firefighters used airbags and wooden blocks to lift the vehicle off the victim and then took her to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. Police said her injuries were severe and she is listed in serious condition at the hospital. Investigators did not release her name.

Kocharov is charged with driving under the influence resulting in bodily injury, domestic assault with intent to commit a felony, driving to endanger resulting in injury and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He was arraigned before a bail commissioner and held on $100,000 bail pending his appearance Monday morning in District Court.
