PROVIDENCE, R.I (WPRI) — Firefighters responded to a house on 8th Street in Providence early Monday morning, for a report of a fire.
Crews battled heavy flames that were coming out of the roof.
No injuries have been reported but officials say neighbors were evacuated in the surrounding homes out of precaution.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to just one home with only minor damage to one of the surrounding homes.
“We had concerns about the houses on either side of the fire house igniting. So we had four master streams going for about 20 minutes, and we were able to confine it to the building or origin.” – Battalion Chief Jeffrey Varone, Providence Fire Department
No word yet on what may have caused the fire.
