WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said Veterans Memorial Drive and its extension will change to two-way traffic as part of renovations to the Apponaug Circulator.
The agency said the change went into midday Tuesday in the Apponaug Village in Warwick.
The changes were part of the $71-million project aimed at reducing traffic and attracting more people and businesses to the village. Most of the one-way circulator will now accommodate two-way traffic, except for a stretch on Post Road near City Hall.
The project is expected to be finished in 2017. The department plans to focus on the roundabout at Apponaug Four Corners and turning Post Road in front of City Hall into a single lane.
