Providence investigating whether firefighter was ‘impaired’ on the job

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Providence Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare confirmed Wednesday the city is investigating whether a firefighter was under the influence on the job Tuesday evening.

Pare declined to name the firefighter.

“We are investigating the circumstances of a firefighter being impaired last evening,” Pare wrote in a text message to Eyewitness News.

The alleged incident is unrelated to two other firefighters being arrested Tuesday on drug and guns charges. Those firefighters, Richard Jimenez and Joshua M. Brown, have been suspended without pay, according to Pare.
