Suspect in Providence murder held without bail

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – The man accused of killing a former high school basketball player is being held without bail.

Jose Morales was arraigned in Providence Superior Court on Tuesday, charged with murder, discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence, carrying a firearm without a license, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Morales is accused of shooting and killing Kiplagott Stewart, Jr. on June 18, 2016.

Stewart played basketball at Mount Pleasant High School.

Morales is due back in court on February 28, 2017.
