PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The city of Providence is set to continue its tradition of free parking in some neighborhoods for the holiday season.
The initiative, that allows for two hours of free parking, is a part of the city’s push to buy locally.
Neighborhoods participating include downtown, Federal Hill around Atwells Avenue, Wayland Square, Hope and Wickenden Streets, Broad Street, and Olneyville Square.
State officials stated that the free hours will be limited to between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and the two-hour limit will be enforced so all residents can take advantage of the campaign.
Free parking begins on Friday–just in time for Small Business Saturday–and will continue until the new year.
