Police: Suspect targeted 2 Woonsocket banks within minutes

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Police in Woonsocket are seeking the public’s help after two banks in the city were targeted Friday afternoon.

According to police, a man attempted to rob the Citizens Bank on Cumberland Street at about 12:45 p.m., but was unsuccessful.

As officers responded to that bank, police said they received a call that the Bank of America on nearby John Cummings Way was held up and the suspect made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Police believe the same man is responsible, as evidenced by surveillance images from both banks.
