FOXBORO, Mass. (WPRI) – The Los Angeles Rams may have been just what the Patriots needed after losing star tight end Rob Gronkowski for the season, as the Pats cruised to a 26-10 win in Foxboro Sunday.
Very little went the now 4-8 Rams’ way, with rookie quarterback Jared Goff going 14 of 32 for only 161 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He connected with Kenny Britt on a 66-yard catch-and-run with less than two minutes left in the game to set up the Rams’ only touchdown.
Goff was under pressure for most of the game and was sacked four times. The Rams managed just 36 rushing yards.
Tom Brady threw 33 of 46 for 269 yards and a touchdown despite missing Gronkowski. Julian Edelman led the Pats receivers with 101 yards, and Malcom Mitchell added 82. Running back LeGarrette Blount opened the scoring on the Patriots’ first drive with a 43 yard touchdown run, and the Pats never looked back.
The Patriots improve to 10-2 and will host the Ravens next Monday night.
It was Tom Brady’s 201st career victory and he passed Payton Manning to take over as the all-time leader in wins by a quarterback.
