Providence, R.I. – Brown senior defensive end Richard “Dewey” Jarvis (Watertown, MA) and senior inside linebacker William Twyman (Sudbury, MA) have been named to the 2016 ECAC FCS All-Star First Team.
A dominant force for the Bears’ defensive front, Jarvis led the Ivy League and ranked ninth nationally in tackles for a loss with 18.5, and ranked 24th nationally in forced fumbles. He started 20 straight games for the Bears and had 101 career tackles. Jarvis made 65 total tackles, including 40 solo stops in 2016. He was the top defensive player on the field against Ivy co-champion Penn, constantly penetrating the line of scrimmage, making 3.5 tackles for a loss of 15 yards, including two quarterback sacks for a loss of 12 yards.
A three-year starter for the Bears, Twyman made 200 career tackles. He ranked second in the Ivy League in total tackles with 96 stops (9.6 per game), while making 9.5 tackles for a loss and two quarterback sacks. He also ranked third in the Ivy League and 26th nationally with four interceptions, and led the Ivy League in fumbles recovered. Twyman made a season-high 18 tackles at Ivy champion Princeton.
