PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI)- It’s been eight years and a family is still searching for answers, after a local woman was killed by a hit and run driver. Family and friends held a vigil Friday night for 41-year-old Gina Isom. She was struck and killed by a driver as she was crossing the street on Atwells Avenue and Cutler Avenue in the capital city back in 2009.
Now, loved ones continue to search for closure. That driver never came forward, bringing constant suffering for the Isom family. Gina’s father says
“I lost my baby and I wish he would turn himself in.”
At the scene, police say no skid marks were found leading them to believe that driver didn’t even try to stop. They did interview one driver who was headed in the opposite direction.
Police were able to get a description of the dark colored sedan that hit Gina and drove off, but after that no other big tips have come in.
On the anniversary of Gina’s death, her sister Rene is still posting signs looking for clues and hoping for answers.
Isom leaves behind a son and 17 siblings.
If anyone knows anything, they are urged to call Providence Police.
