Potato chips recalled due to possible salmonella contamination

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) – Deep River Snacks is voluntarily recalling certain Sour Cream and Onion Kettle Chips.

The recall includes 2- and 5-ounce packages with Best By dates of November 9, 2016 to June 2, 2017.

The company said it learned from one of its suppliers that buttermilk powder used in the seasoning may contain traces of salmonella.chip-recall

While the company said no bacteria has been found in any of the ingredients or in any of the Deep River Snacks products, out of an abundance of caution, it is recalling products produced using the affected ingredient from this supplier.

No illnesses have been reported to date, the company said.

If you have any of the products, you are asked to throw it out and contact the company at 860-434-7347, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.

The product was distributed nationally through retail and food service outlets.
