SCITUATE, RI (WPRI) – State Police unveiled new QuikClot Belt Trauma Kits Thursday morning.

QuikClot is used by hospitals, emergency medical technicians, and law enforcement agencies across the United States to control bleeding in the event of a traumatic injury.

The kits will be distributed to approximately 450 law enforcement members, including state troopers, deputy sheriffs, Capitol Police officers, and investigators with the Fire Marshal’s office.

The kits include a tourniquet dressing, Combat Gauze that contains a clotting agent, latex gloves and a CPR breathing barrier.
