Quincy officer arrested after standoff with police

RAYNHAM, Mass. (WPRI) — Police responded to a standoff situation at a home in Raynham that involved a police officer.

Officers from Taunton, Dartmouth, and other communities responded to the scene.

Officials confirm the Quincy police officer at the center of the standoff was Keith Wilbur, an 18-year veteran of the force.

Wilbur, 51, was off-duty at the time of the incident.

Police were originally called to the scene for a reported domestic situation at a home on Britton Street. The road was closed while members of the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council moved in wearing tactical gear.

Taunton police report that Wilbur fired two shots through the door at the first officers to arrive on scene. Police were able to remove a female from the property.

A negotiation lasted for several hours. Officers were also seen using a robot at one point.

Eventually the suspect surrendered in the driveway just after 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Wilbur is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
