Cops shutter Providence spa amid prostitution probe

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) —  A Providence spa was shut down after a prostitution bust Tuesday night.

Police told Eyewitness News investigators arrested one person at Smiler’s Day Spa on North Main Street and questioned several others.

Zhen Chun Jin, 51, has been charged with one count of prostitution, police said.

Major David Lapatin said several complaints from neighborhood residents prompted the undercover investigation.

“Providence police just won’t put up with this. So, that’s why we acted quickly and got this taken care of,” Lapatin said.

Providence police said officers will return to the spa Wednesday morning to continue the investigation.
