Attorney General Kilmartin proposes gun ban for domestic abuses

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island’s Attorney General has renewed his effort to get guns away from domestic abusers.

On Wednesday, Peter Kilmartin announced he’s re-filing legislation that would ban anyone convicted of a domestic violence misdemeanor in Rhode Island from buying or possessing a firearm.

Kilmartin said the bill would bring Rhode Island into compliance with federal law.
