REHOBOTH, Mass. (WPRI) — A crash involving a tractor trailer and a sedan in Rehoboth spilled diesel fuel all over the roadway, but fortunately there were no serious injuries.
The crash occurred just after 1 p.m. on Fall River Avenue (Route 6) near the border with Swansea. According to police, the preliminary investigation suggested the westbound car crossed over the center line and side-swiped the oncoming tractor trailer.
Police said the driver of the car was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River to be treated for minor injuries while the truck driver was not hurt.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage. Police said the crash punctured the driver’s side fuel tank of the tractor trailer, spilling diesel all over the roadway.
A portion of the roadway was closed for several hours as crews worked to clean up the fuel and clear the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
