TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) — Police in Taunton are investigating after a woman was hit by a vehicle Tuesday night.
It happened just before 10:30 p.m. on the 700-block of Bay Street.
Police say the victim, 63-year-old Cynthia MacDonald, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with significant injuries.
“She was able to scream and her neighbors were able to assist her — come out and cover her up with a blanket until EMS arrived,” said Lt. Paul Roderick.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop after the incident but MacDonald told police she was struck by a yellow snow plow.
Roderick said that he hoped if the plow driver did know he struck her, that he would have pulled over.
Taunton detectives are assisting in the investigation and will be canvassing the area for witnesses or outside cameras that could help in identifying the driver.
MacDonald has a surveillance camera on her front porch, according to police, but it is unknown if the vehicle was captured on it.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Taunton police at (508) 824-7522.
