West Greenwich woman dies after Exeter crash

EXETER, R.I. (WPRI) — A West Greenwich woman died Monday after she crashed into a tree on Route 165 in Exeter, Rhode Island State Police confirm.

According to police, the 41-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle and left the roadway around 9:45 a.m., striking a tree in the area of Summit Road.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police said alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors.
