Bicyclist struck by vehicle in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle Sunday morning in Providence.

It happened at about 11 a.m. on Hope Street in front of Hope High School.

Police officers blocked part of Hope Street for approximately half an hour as they worked the scene.

Providence Police Commander Thomas Verdi tells Eyewitness News Sunday evening the bicyclist is a 28-year-old man from Illinois. He remains hospitalized in stable condition Sunday night.

Neither police nor firefighters could provide any further details on the driver, or the vehicle involved in the crash. The incident is still under investigation Sunday night.
