Q&A: Fourth of July security

EATS PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — With dozens of events planned around Southern New England, preparations are underway for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday. A big part of that, especially at the bigger celebrations, is making sure everyone is safe and secure.

In the above video, Eyewitness News analyst Lt. Gen. Reginald Centracchio discusses the security measures for Bristol’s historic Fourth of July parade, the fireworks spectacular at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket and other local events.

Reginald Centracchio (ret.) served as Adjutant General of Rhode Island and Commanding General of the Rhode Island National Guard from 1995 until his retirement in 2005. During his tenure, he served as Director of the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency and as Rhode Island Homeland Security Advisor – becoming the first Adjutant General to hold all three positions simultaneously.
