Pawtucket police: 1 injured in restaurant stabbing

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – Police are investigating overnight violence, including a stabbing inside a Pawtucket restaurant, that sent one person to the hospital.

Police said officers were called to the corner of Pine and Bayley Streets in Pawtucket shortly after 3 a.m. Friday for a report of several shots fired. Once they arrived, they found several spent casings on the roadway.

While investigating that scene, police said officers saw several people running from the rear entrance of Faroles Restaurant and 911 dispatchers received reports of a stabbing inside the establishment.

Police said as more than 100 people fled the restaurant, the officers found a male victim who had two lacerations to his abdomen.

The victim – who police have not yet identified – was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries police described as non-life threatening.

Police believe the stabbing and the shots fired are connected but said the investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Det. Cormier at 401-727-9100 ext. 756.
