Erika Impacts Dominican Republic Today

Tropical Storm Erika continues to look like a disorganized area of thunderstorms in the Caribbean, but it is still a storm that will cause a lot of problems the next few days. Today (Friday) and through Saturday, the Dominican Republic will be impacted.  In fact, the rain associated with Erika will move into the eastern part of the D.R. Friday afternoon.  Rainfall amounts of 4 to 8″ are expected with some amounts of 12″ possible.  This amount of rain will cause flash flooding and mudslides in the D.R. and in Haiti.  In addition, strong wind gusts to 60mph are possible.…
