Hot, Humid End of August, Beginning of September

By the end of this week, most of southern New England’s teachers and students will be back in the classrooms for the start of another school year.  Unfortunately, for those in buildings without air conditioning it’s going to be an uncomfortable stretch of hot, muggy weather.  Temperatures will be well above average, with highs between 85-90 this week.  In addition, the air will have a muggy mid-summer feel.   The warmer than normal temperatures come at the start of meteorological Autumn on Tuesday, September 1.  Meteorologists and climatologists divide 12-month calendar in to 4 three-month periods of similar temperatures.
