Category 1 Irene 80 mph

Irene showing signs of moving back out over water….at least a little bit.  Will be interesting to see if the center stays just offshore…that may slow the weakening process. These storms need water, especially warm waters to maintain their structure.

Still looks like we will end up on the right hand side of storm giving us the strongest winds.  On Sunday winds will be sustained at 35-45 mph with gusts of 50-to 80 mph. strongest winds will by at coast and offshore. Those winds are strong enough to produce tree damage and some power outages

Very busy in weather center looking at data…I will back shortly but let me refer you to

One of our web links which has more info.

Irene Forecast Link

Should anything change….hoping to blog at least once each half hour with new data so check back often.
