PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – A reputed capo regime didn’t even put up a fight to be released on bail and will remain detained at the Wyatt Detention Center in Central Falls.
Edward “Eddie” Lato is facing federal charges that he shook down area strip clubs for protection money. Lato’s attorney Mark Smith told U.S. Magistrate Judge David Martin he was not going to argue for Lato’s release.
“You fight the battles you can win,” Smith told reporters outside court.
The judge ruled Lato, as an alleged high-ranking member of the New England La Cosa Nostra, is a danger to the community.
