Chafee releases report on waste, fraud in Medicaid, food stamps

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – A company hired to investigate waste and fraud in the state’s welfare programs found problems including prisoners and deceased people receiving food stamps, retailers purchasing EBT cards and Section 8 housing recipients underreporting their benefits, according to a report released by Gov. Lincoln Chafee’s office Wednesday.

  1. its about time they had the B@LLS to do something, this has gone on forever. They should find the ones who have abused it, prosecute them and take it away from them for life.. Bunch of low life losers sucking the system dry never contributing a penny towards it… Please set up a HOT LINE i will be calling all the time reporting people for you..

  2. This report used out of date data, declared at the start. I wonder who the important folks were that were redacted. All in all nothing surprising, really business as usual for RI.
    Gov Goofy really needs to step up and do something. Releasing this is really meaningless. JMO, No wonder is approval ratings are in the tank.

  3. Chafee haters are relentless, blaming him both for releasing and for not releasing the report!
    Both conservatives and liberals should appreciate what the Governor is doing in having Ken Block do this investigation and call attention to this issue, both to protect txpayers, and to assure the long-term public support for these programs if there can be more assurance that the help goes to where it is truly needed.
