Feds subpoena Providence for PEDP records

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Federal investigators have subpoenaed records from the Providence Economic Development Partnership (PEDP), a troubled quasi-public agency that loans money to businesses, but city officials say it’s not the focus of the probe.

“Last week, the PEDP was issued a subpoena for records that predated the Taveras administration,” David Ortiz, a spokesman for Mayor Angel Taveras, told Target 12 on Thursday. “The PEDP is cooperating fully. The PEDP is not a target of the investigation.”
